Ah, the great Resident Evil franchise. Most consider the original RE to be the one that started it all, myself included. I still remember the fear I had while playing it for the first time in 1996. The mechanics were horrendous, and the puzzles required you to constantly run from one end of the environment to the other(which was lengthy), but it was still a creepy ass game.
For those of you that can't stomach the pixelated "graphics" from 1996, a remake of the original is available for the Gamecube (and Wii). This remake was awe inspiring, revamping the graphics and the sound to make this a truly timeles giant in the survival-horror genre. While the second installment was more entertaining (probably due to the fact that it is alot easier to beat, and that there are cheat codes for the director's cut), it doesn't hold a candle to the original in terms of scares.
Anybody that claims to be a fan of this genre should be ashamed of themselves if they haven't at least experienced the original RE (or the remake).
